Yes the size of the charger and the battery matters a lot!!! If you hook a large charger on a small garden tractor battery and leave it on auto over night it will cook the battery dry. BTDT. I have a little 10 amp trickle charger I use on my garden tractor batteries and can leave them on over night with no problems.
