A friend did manage to reverse charge a 12 volt battery. He had an 8n that had been converted to 12 volts.I had heard of reverse charging.I know that nicad batteries can can reverse polarity .I had told Jay to make sure the Ford was connected negative ground because of the alternator.Tractor was out side so he took the battery into the garage and put the charger on it.When he put the battery back in the wire to the alternator smoked and melted the insulation. He asked me to look at it.The polarity was right. My meter said the battery was reverse charged.I have my doubts about the polarizing bit. When the generator closes the cutout it gets hit by the battery polarity so it gets polarized every time you start the engine.I store that idea with the coil with the INTERNAL resistor .Jays son in law took the battery to his garage and ran the battery down with a head lite.He tried to recharge the battery the right way but it wouldnt take a charge.
