The "landing gear" warning was telling him his gear was NOT down. He had his flaps set to a setting for landing (flaps 100 I believe he called) which allows him to slow down and get extra lift, and the landing gear warning system thinks he is about to land. On everything I've flown the only way to cancel it is to put the gear down, something he wouldn't want to do because of the extra drag so he just has to ignore it until he begins to retract his flaps.
Be interested to know exactly what type aircraft this is.
