I can totally relate. My Dad realized the farm was not going to work long term so I got a factory job in 2000.After several employers shutting down and not being able to get into GM even though a guy that used to work under me got in and he was nearly useless then I am now hanging live broilers for a poultry processer.A young guy that was working on the line with me for a while told me that he worked at TSC on the side and they were hiring for part time people.I applied but heard nothing. The guy that told me about it didn"t work out on the kill line but I bumped into him later and he told me the jobs all went to student types.
As far as your better half goes don"t give up.Like others have said it is almost automatic to get turned down at least once.Remember when we were young and every teenage boy got turned down for his drivers license the first time? Here in Ontario I took my wife to the member of parliaments office to see about getting benefits over 2 years ago. When she found out disability claims were processed in the same office as welfare she put the brakes on.Now that she is out of work ,can barely walk and takes a whole mittful of pills everyday she has finally applied.

After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
