I'm no expert, its been since '97 since I've had any sweet corn success as I recall, my father planted that small patch that year, I've tried since '09, well I may have skipped a year. Finally, organically grown sweet corn per the photo. I waited till the tassle turned, ear felt right, and ditto to what JA Nicholson said. I just had this ear of corn, immediately after picking, perfect, could have had it raw it was that sweet, rubbed a little butter on while hot, boiled 5 minutes, its been since '97. I have lots of improvement, with fertility, weed control,(as you can see with that grass in between) + deer pilferage etc, sure as heck was a pain to grow, but worth doing. The other half of the patch and 3 other varieties did not do well at all, next season I'll make some improvements.
The ear in the photo, was from 64 day Burpee, early and often I think, planted June 20, 2013 I believe, its late. The other ears in the photo are ready to pick. It sure had a really nice flavor too, besides being sweet.
