85 Massey Ferguson PTO

I am having problems with the PTO.
The tractor has been stored in the barn for 7+ years.
There is only 1600 hrs on it. The power steering
works OK, the Hydraulics works OK and the ground drive
PTO speed is OK. I have been told that because it has not
been used for so long that it is not unusual for this
to be "stiff" and that running the tractor for a
while will loosen up the connections. Any tips or
experience will be helpful. up the
