: : : How do I line up the "forks" to get back in nuetral?
: : : Someone told me that the gear selectors on the forks will look like a box or a square when lined up in nuetral. This is straight gearshift model 45 (i.e. not curved).
: : : I have removed the retaining ring and pulled out the pivot pine (shaft) and look down into top of the gear box and can see the selectors but the forks are below this so must line up the little "square" selectors??? I guess....
: : : I am locked and can't move till I get it in nuetral.
: : : Help please....Verne Garrison, Illinois

: : Verne: Take a screwdriver and move the forks, gears, what ever you can patiently until the trans is in neutral. Take your time and you can do it. I have had this happen every once in a while on a WD, and WD45. Good luck, Bill

: Bill: Thanks for encouragement. Do you agree lining up the "lugs" on top of the forks to be a "square or rectangle" is the approach? I haven't gone down into area where could see the forks.
: Verne Garrison
One thing you should know is that if it has a straight shifting lever, then it's a WD, not a WD-45. The curved shifting started with the last year or or so of WD production. The transmission with the curved shift lever is a constant mesh transmission as opposed to the older sliding gear type.

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo. ... [Read Article]
