Started with the dialup. Local boys put up a tower and offered high speed, like 10x dialup speed and got rid of one phone line. Price not bad with the 2nd phone deleted. No other service but dialup was available at the time.
Local tower service is the best fast internet deal financially, but you have to have line of sight from antenna to antenna. Trees prevent that as do structures, hills and the like.
As my trees grew taller they got in the way. No way was I going to give them up so I went with the satellite. Price went up considerably but it was faster than the current edition of local tower service.

Now I am spoiled and figure the time we spend on the computer is well worth the speed and corresponding price. If you do a lot of videos or pictures, there is no comparison. No stopping in the middle of things for the bits to catch up. And seems everybody that puts out anything anymore, news/weather media and all, are full of videos of all types so you can't get away from that.
