The Dr. (if he is one) had no right to give you that diagnosis with no tests and no biopsy.
Self insured = uninsured. Pay as you go, just like gasoline.
If you have a relationship with a DR. call and explain the situation...be forceful. Insist on seeing the DR. Today! He is not god...he is a Dr. paid to help sick people. Your Dr. has space for a few emergencies. If he does not have that flexability in his office, you need a new Dr. with a smaller ego, and wallet.
The kind of medicine you have experienced is the reason our health care costs are out of control. He saw you not as a patient...but as a customer. Big difference between patient and customer....max the profit potential.
Sorry for your situation. No one deserves such harsh and thoughtless treatment by an MD. But when you get through this, think long and hard about how we pay for healthcare, and get some insurance. Even if you are young and healthy as a horse and never going to get sick or have an accident.
