The 656 is shut down with throttle like several have pointed out. If throttle does not shut it off, just grab hold of the spring loaded part of the lever on pump and push it forward. It should shut off immediately. If not, the shut off cam may have popped off the throttle shaft inside pump. If it does shut off immediately it is external throttle wear or adjustments. That pump should have another keeper on throttle shaft inside so shaft won't work it's way out of pump if shutoff cam jumps off. No 656 ever had a shut off cable or electric shut off from factory. All 806 were throttle shut off also. Later 706 with 310 and 826 etc had cable shut of. All 4 and 560 diesels had cable shut off and used Roosa Master pump also but it had another lever on other side of pump for shut off.
