Not a denial, but an opinion based on 40 years in teaching (university for 37) one year of generals is OK. two will force the student to take too many major courses in the same semester, and in many cases those will have prerequisites that are sequential not parallel to each other. Many students need one or more additional semesters or summers to get their degree. the worst is having all general studies curriculum completed then choosing a major. Courses that are a best guess within a selected major are best to take as a freshmen/sophmore. These give a real feel for the major, and if not used, count toward the electives. Any difficult lab based major from nursing, engineering, computer science, or meteorology. will be a 4 year sequence, with no wiggle room. I advise 70 students. Jim

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
