I have a picture of my wife in almost the exact same spot at Crater Lake except she is wrapped up in a sleeping bag and it is snowing - July 7 about 15 years ago.
We were camping and climbing at Smith Rocks in central Oregon. It was so hot we had to be off the rock by about 11am. Easily 34-38*Celcius. We left Smith at about 11:30. I"m not sure what time we arrived at Crater Lake where we had planned to camp with our summer gear.
We got out at the parking lot, took a couple pictures and realized we hadn"t thought this through very well...As beautiful as it was, the temperature change was too much and we headed down for the coast.
