Thats unreal. Its incredible how those in society, that steal are so numerous. I blame all the complications with things that need protection, from a website where you are applying for a job, banking and all the rest, if it were not for these kinds of people, the lives of honest working people would be so much better, even if regarding just isolated incidences.
Years ago, while construction was at an all time low, I took a retail job selling consumer electronics, audio and video equipment, high end sound systems, TV's etc. I used to ring up all my own sales to close out the sale immediately, to avoid customers changing their mind while in line, and it was their prerogative to do so. I sold in an honest way, showed them up or down on the line closest to what they wanted to spend and I had a lot of success doing so.
At the end of the day, we retained the pink copy of the sales receipt, on it, was the entire credit card number, customers address etc. expiration date, and so on. I had stacks of these, with that information. Could you imagine the havoc someone could cause today with that, I burned them years later in my burn barrel at home, some of the CC #s were still valid too. I know there are those who handle transactions who have this same information today, but back then this was not widespread like it is today.
I agree with the punishment, would never stop people from continuing to do it, as its a human thing to be utterly and completely stupid such as some people are, those that steal.
