Thanks glenster, As you see my alternator UN expertise goes all the way back to Delco 10SI which are way less amperage. Right now theres a 10 second delay relay which only kicks in the solenoid 10 seconds AFTER the rv engine is up n running and thats when I hear the engine load a bit. And voltmeter goes n stays at 14.3
What I am considering is an on/off over ride switch so the coupling solenoid (to charge house batteries) can be kept off. Then while driving I can turn on my 200 watts of rooftop solar which, depending on sun and angle, can slowwwwwwww charge the house batteries (0 to 15 amps) as/if needed and if I think the house batteries need a bit of heavy duty quick charging off the alternator, I can flip the switch the last hour of a days driving.......
Actually, due to my 200 watts of rooftop solar and my Onan 4KW genset if dry camping (which powers my 40 amp Xantrex and runs 30 to 60 mins a day for coffee or microwave or wifes hair dryer or toaster etc etc) even in extended periords of dry camping, MY HOUSE BATTERIES DONT REALLY GET DOWN MUCH IF ANY so its not like the alternator is gonna have to pump max 100 amps for hours on end I MAY NOT HAVE TO WORRY AT ALL???
I think the solenoid over ride option coupled with my ability to solar charge 0 to 15 amps while driving should be enough to prevent frying my alternator
