I agree, JD but I have several parcels that are heavily obstructed with trees, etc. and I am constantly reversing and changing speed due to conditions. This is ideal work for a hydro.
I had already decided to buy the 4720 to replace my non synchronized MF 533 as my "first round/cut in" tractor and for other light duty work.
The little thing pulled 58 HP on the NE PTO test and my MF 2635 is only rated at 60 PTO, though it is significantly larger and heavier. If the 4720 will handle the 7' cutter as well, I might be able to use it for both tasks and sell both MFs.
I'm guessing that the 4720 PTO is straight through, gear drive and efficient, which is reflected in the NE test. I know that hydros are inefficient because lots of power is turned into heat ( I have a 20 HP Kubota Hydro for lawn mowing duty) and expect that there is significant inefficiency in the traction drive.

Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
