It is the opposite over here, no-one will buy the dual power TS or 7840s They burn out the clutches like crazy. The TS or 7840 SLE with the shift button is the one to go for as long as it is the grey chassis 7840, the bugs were mainly ironed out then. But just be careful changing ranges on them tractors as the dumbell gear is real easy to strip and costly to repair. Better to go for the TM range, but you need at least the TM 135 to be any good as the gearbox saps a lot of power. Good luck with what ever you purchase.....of course I would tell you to buy an 18x 6 speed Massey Ferguson 4270! Sam

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
