I was up there on business trips years ago. One thing that amazed me were the slabs of granite or whatever slabs of rock that jutted out of the ground, usually at a 30 or so degree angle. Looked like a plate that shifted, like when you have an earth quake. I think it was between Bloomington and Oneonta.
Other thing I noticed was once I was looking up at a pasture well above the roadway with trees bordering on the far side. I saw these very large reddish brown cows up there and commented to my traveling companion what large cows those were. He said that they weren't cows. They were deere. Okaye. So you grow them large in NY.
