VS 12 volt where alternator is more reliable, requires less maintenance and is cheaper to repair . 12 volt systems starts better in extreme cold and my wife can jump or charge a 12 volt system without burning/blowing something up. 6 volt chargers are getting harder to find and 6 volt batteries are more expensive. Converting to 12 volt can be done using new components for about 150. Buy a new 6 volt battery, get a reman genny and a new VR for that. Now exactly why would I ever think about keeping a system 6 volt. And yes I can repair both systems. I've converted all 3 of my 6 volt tractors to 12 volt and would never consider going back.
