My 6th grader, has around 30 minutes per night. Alternates between advanced math and English.
My high schooler has around 1 1/2 hours per night. Sometimes this spills into the weekend. AP Math, AP Biology, Honors English.
Being an engineer and a statistician I can whip through the math and science with them quite easily. The wife has to do the English. Guess that"s a poor reflection on me that I struggle with 6th and 9th grade English.
With both kids in sports time management is critical. They seem to have no problem with it.
I am 43, as far as homework, I didn"t have any, even in high school. Graduated with honors, honestly never opened a book. First year of college, I learned how unprepared high school had left me. I hope this homework my are kids doing, has them better prepared for post high school transition than I was.
To your question, Is this much homework right? I don"t know. I don"t think it hurts from an academic standpoint, but it sure does reduce the fun and family time.
