Welcome to No Child Left Behind [or as our teachers say every child left behind] They have to put so much into 1 day they can't help the ones who need it. The best part is they changed the way they teach lessons from when we went to school sometimes I can't even help my 3rd grader! Simple math has about 10 steps to get the answer. I show him a simple 2 step process and he is confused because that's not how they showed him in school. And don't even get me started about not teaching them cursive writing. GRRRRRRRRRRR! How are they to read early IMPORTANT documents [Declaration,etc...].
