I never personally had alot of homework. I finished most of it in class and ended high school with around a 75 average. There were some teachers that seemed to think they could give me homework that could only be completed at home, even if I had all my work done in class. In that case it was done in class when they weren't looking, or it wasn't done at all. I never really considered projects homework, and was the only form of 'homework' that I really found acceptable. I still hated it, but it normally was done on time. In my opinion, homework should only be work that wasn't completed in class. Work that a normal, non distracted child could complete. Every year the schools seem to get worse, and it seems now they want the kids to learn new material at home, rather than simply practice and review what they learned at school that day. Homework that was handed out at the end of class is another matter, and falls in the same category as work which they don't want completed in class. Talking to the schools won't likely help. In their minds, they're the boss of you and your children, and you'll do as you're told. I also think that it is a control issue. They want control of the children's minds.they want them to believe what they're told and do as they're told. Look at the date on the link. Nearly 20 years ago. It's been an issue for a while.
