a 5 ft brush hog on a 9N-2N or 8N will work just fine. We cut bahia grass and it is tough stuff. Keep the blades sharp, keep the back end of the mower just a little higher then the front and use an over running clutch.
Your lil 2N will work hard in deep grass but you can always take a 3/4 strip if you get into a deep area.
The photo below is my mother in-law on her 1950, 8N and the wife on her 1947, 2N both are running 5ft brush hog type cutters. The photo was taken in 2006 we are still using both tractors and the cutters today.
