Start with spark. Weak spark many times is blamed as a carb problem. You need a blue/white spark that jumps a 1/4 inch gap or more at all 4 plug wires. Next how is your air cleaner?? It may need to be serviced. Now to the carb. To clean one well you need to soak it in a good carb cleaner which is hard to find any more sad to say. You also need compressed air, spray carb cleaner and a small piece of wire or other such thing to poke the passage ways out with. I use torch tip cleaner tool in place of the wire and work very well
