Dave, Just a thought, but are you sure the wires are installed in the right direction (clockwise vs. counter clockwise) in the distributor. Is it possible that you have the order right and the direction reversed? Pull the distributor cap and bump the starter to verify which way the rotor turns. Please post your solution, whatever it is. Good luck, Mark R. : I went ahead and replaced my condenser and readjusted the points real close. Now I have the sparkplugs firing and some outrageous backfires. I noticed the wires were 1-2-4-3. I thought a WD was 1-3-2-4. Can anybody refresh my memory? The more I think about it, the less confident I am. Dave : : I am working on installing a coil into a WD. The previous owner had made a minimal 12v conversion by just changing the coil. The 12v coil had a very weak, intermittent spark at 6v. I changed the coil to 6v and now I have no spark. I have -6v on one side. The points are opening and closing. Unless my point gap is badly off, I should have a spark? I am holding the coil wire about 1/2" off a sparkplug. I pulled off the condenser with no change. Thanks, appreciate any responses. Dave
