Use an "Electric Eye" like the stores use; it's actually a focused Infra-red beam. You can reflect the beam with mirrors completely around your shed, then reflect the beam up to another mirror on the eaves which would then reflect the beam to a receiver on your house eaves which would set off an alarm.
