I was mowing yesterday with my John Deere 445 zero turn (25 hp Kawasaki) when the front of the deck caught a hidden tree root. I was moving at a fairly good clip, but came to a sudden stop when I hit the root. Deck and blades are OK, but the engine immediately began surging and losing power. It will barely keep running when I throttle down to idle.
I'm not much of a mechanic, so I plan to take it in to the dealer, but I'm just curious as to what I might have jarred loose. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
