Last weekend our fire department hosted a "garage sale" for the local FFA chapter. Typical sale with donated items, many from other garage sales, etc. This was a little different in that one of the pawn shops in town had gone out of business. The building was rented and the owners donated everything that the pawn shop left in the building. I spent about $40 all told and got:
Two tool boxes that had evidently belonged to a plumber, one full of nothing but brass faucet seats, weighed about 20 pounds. The other was full of mostly copper fittings, three one pound rolls of solder, assorted tools. It weighed more like 60 pounds.
An all wooden stool, adjustable from barstool height to chair height. nice and sturdy too.
Some zipper bags from banks that had been closed for fifty years, all like new.
And a SentrySafe that measures about 2 ft by 2 ft by 2 ft. Weighs about 100 pounds. It's one of those that has an electronic combination and a barrel key to open it up. Didn't get either with it and it's locked up.
The way I figure, I can peddle the brass, keep the copper and other things, use the stool, and I have already gotten touch with a locksmith friend who can contact the company and get the default combo and the key. They will do that with a documented bill of sale or other evidence I'm not a crook. Since it was at a pawn shop, it's likely it was stolen, so if that turns out to be true I'll do the right thing and turn it in. Otherwise, I'll use it for something or sell it. Ought to be worth a hundred or so anyway. It's possible there is stuff inside it, it's too heavy to shake it and tell. Doubtful though.
All in all, not bad. I was told I missed out on more tool boxes full of stuff but that's OK.

I credit my parents for instilling a lot of good values, a respect for learning, a knowledge of various skills and a little knowledge of farming in me, amo
