Sorry couldn"t resist. In all seriousness, it comes down to who the pack leader is.( or in this case, head of house) We make a mistake when we treat dogs like humans. They are dogs. It creates a whole host of problems for them. Yes, they are great companions and should be loved and cared for, but who should be doing the training? Dogs will readily accept and appreciate knowing who the pack leader is. They will know they are loved and who it is that feeds them and will respect you for it. Letting them run amuck may be cute, but its not good for them.
