Hi Harry, many years ago, I rebuild the one on our B-414D many years ago. So long ago I have forgotten how I removed the metal plug out of the end of the assembly. Basically what I remember, I removed the plug and there was a worm gear drive shaft that drove the tach cable and on the plug end of that drive shaft was a fiber thrust washer that had worn out allowing the drive shaft worm gear to push past the gear being driven from the top of the oil pump. I added some metal shims behind the fiber washer, re-installed the plug and secured it somehow and tach was still working when we traded the B-414D for a 454.
