It is my opinion/observation, comparing old & newer e-blankets, that the "safety police' & liability lawyers have destroyed this product. New units simply don't heat! NWAS!
I have a very old heating pad (12 x 16 inches) that is 50 Watts and a current day whole bed e-blanket that is only 100 Watts!!! Now, I need to find my very old e-blanket & see what it consumes.......it really works!!!
