JD, I have 12 refrgerators, 10 electric ranges, 3 sets of washer/dryer. It wasn't until 2 years ago I had to buy a washer/dryer. The last set was in 1977, whirlpool, which is still working in the basement.
So, I know what I want when it comes to ref and ranges, just lacked experience buying washer/dryer. Actually this has been a learning curve for both of us. We are so happy the new washer is junk and going to get hopefully a better one.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
