I called our local scrapper just this morning and asked if they needed the title to a scrap vehicle, (NC) lady told me if it was over ten years old, not necessary, newer than that, they needed the title. Which is good, 'cause I have a 93 that a man gave me to drag it out of his yard, that some tenants had left. The man that operates this yard doesn't put up with any crap. They write down your license number if you just take in aluminum cans! And if you have central A/C parts you have to produce the receipt for proof of purchase, or you have to be a licensed installer. I told the lady that I had two window units that had been sitting in a building for about twenty years and she said that they would take them. But, I read about once a month, at least, where someone stole the outside unit from a vacant house, and there have been instances where someone stole the unit from an occupied house. They must be taking them somewhere else to unload them.
