Hi Mark - sorry you're so bitter. Actually we do vote down here, well - not in the primaries - they don't have a ballot for independents and I don't want my name affiliated with either side. Anyhow, the elections are decided in the Chicago corner of the state, so it's a moot point. . .
I remember when George Ryan got the pie in his face. It happened over in Carbondale. If I remember right, she was hauled away to jail, but after a few days Ryan actually forgave her and she was released. Cristaudo's Bakery offered Ryan Pie on it's menu for awhile afterward. Heck, I kinda liked old George, even more so after the pie incident, and even if he was a crook. I never could warm up to his successor though. I can't spell his name. He's still in jail. Arrogant cuss. . . He's proof that money can buy an election. After the abysmal job he did in his first term, "we" elected him for a second one. As I said earlier, the elections are decided in Chicago.
I do think we'll see concealed carry in a few months. Time will tell.
