I was amazed at how little corn shelled this year. I'd have to look up the numbers,but I planted Masters Choice. I cut back on my population a little to 24,000 and the ears are HUGE. I didn't have anything that slid out of the cribs through the bars of those Behlen cribs. The wife and I are usually out there with five gallon pails picking up at least a few loader buckets full from around them.
That darned silage corn,it said it was good for silage or picking. A real tall variety with a white cob. The stalks are still green as can be and like I said,the grain is soft. It still has more moisture than last years silage corn was in early September. I wouldn't have any trouble at all getting it to ferment in the bunker if I was to chop a bunch right now.
