I switched my Jubilee to synthetic because when it sits for a few days, the spin on oil filter drains back. I even took the filter off to prove it. So I have a dry start. It takes about 10 seconds to build oil pressure. My hope is that synthetic gives me more protection on a dry start. I did this 2 years ago. No side effects. My engine was rebuilt 200 hrs ago. It uses no oil, no smoke, no leaks. I watch for sales and buy synthetic for around $3 qt.
I became a believer in synthetic years ago. I think quaker state had a commerical where there they put synthetic in a car. Ran it a while. Drained oil and ran the car 500 miles without oil. My daughter's car at the time was using oil. I put quaker state synthetic oil in the car. Daughter ran the car out of oil. Didn't damage engine. At the time her 90 dodge had bad exhaust valve guides. Smoked like crazy, but the oil wasn't being burnt, except in the exhaust system.
The rest of my tractors I use regular oil. I recently decided to expriement with Rural King brand oil. So far, the results are good in my mowers and 20 hp kohler command, which gets used the most.

Well, although these tires were in good shape as far as tread was concerned, they looked real sad. All were flat, but new tubes fixed that. In addition to years and years of scuffing and fading, they had paint splattered on
