It would be wise to replace and rehook the wire. But it can be run with out . But what you would need is a main needle valve and the fittings and packing. What that thing does is when the key switch is turned off the pintel drops into the main fuel jet and shuts off the flow for HOT Shut down and stop's the engine from dieseling .
