My name is Al , and I work in a sawmill in the Pacific northwest, and I have a bush hog,. I know every one has their own opinion, but the sharper the better. I am constantly sharpening our chipper blades , they turn solid wood logs into usable chip fibre and they go onto the machines at 33and 1/2 degree , and they stand up quite well. but this a really hardened steel and they are not subject to many rocks although there is always some stone and some dirt. any time you heat u0p any metal with friction or a grinding stone or a torch you will harden the steel, and never take the steel and ppur water over it , this just amplifies the hardening, If you use a torch or grind too heavy and get the steel really hot it should be annealed, a process after it has cooled down where you slowly heat the blade up to a dull cherry read, and then slowly while pulling the heat away let it cool down, this will soften or anneal the steal. Good luck. Al
