rich I have a 223 in a H&R handy rifle with a bull barrel. I have killed coyotes out to 200 yds. with it. It is also a great gun for prairie dogs. When you said it was designed to wound instead of kill you are right but who hunts with a full metal jacket bullet? You should try one with the new bullets that they have today and you would come away with a different thought on a 223. You might even like it better then your 410 LOL
