My answer was going to be the problem is you own a Dodge - but I see you found that out for yourself.
My boss just bought a top of the line new Jeep Grand Cherokee - about the only option he didn't get was the diesel. Every now and then the whole eletronic dash goes blank along with the "data center" (fancy radio) while he's driving down the road. If he pulls over and turns it on and off it comes back on. Until he does that he has no idea how fast he's going, gas or anything else - but the car keeps running like normal. Been back to the Dodge dealer 6-7 times and had the entire dash replaced once - still has the same problem. Nice issue to have on a $47,000 vehicle.
