I posted a few weeks ago on some flooring that I was laying and thought I'd share the progress as I decided to have it professionally stained, buffed, and sealed. I couldn't be happier. (The guy that did it is out of Youngstown Ohio and traveled to Western Pa where I am, so if anyone is looking I would be happy to give you his number, let me know)
Now I'm just chugging away at the trim work. I'm milling some myself and using some stock trims from a local mill. Finally got the bookcase and pocket door jamb installed and am almost finished with it's trim casing. I've got one piece left on the center vertical that I still have to mill and jack miter as it has got a bead on both sides.
I finished the window casings and shutter fit in this bedroom as well. My cousin found these shutters in a pile somewhere and I gave her 20$ a pair. An weekend in the shop to make them a little wider in the openings and the time to mortise the hinges and voila! (I'm happy with them)
Now I've got baseboard to install. Holes to fill. Trim to paint and touch-ups from all my hammer marks when laying the floor. Anyway, thought I'd share. Maybe I'll get these bedrooms completed before spring comes and it's all hands on deck at the farm again.
Just for reference - the work light seen in the background of the last photo is where the pocket door is now. Sometimes it seems like work (aka me) is moving incredibly slow but then I look back at photos like this and figure I must be making some progress.
