Don"t believe that"s the case anymore. Think GM computers remember even with battery disconnected, at least on later models. Some one will probably correct me on this.
I"ve got one hanging - had an oxygen sensor go bad on wife"s Trailblazer. Reputable shop put aftermarket sensor in - wouldn"t work properly - kept throwing code. They replaced with GM part. Still not right... His major manufacturer code reader/computer says it needs to be "calibrated," But there"s no program available to do that -either from his manufacturer or through the GM dealers. Car runs fine, except it will throw a "running lean" code if stopped and idling say at a traffic light. Have to practically keep a code reader with the car to erase that reoccurring code.
Got another issue with that car. Every once in a while when come to stop and start out again, it will forget to downshift to first or second gear - whatever it"s supposed to start out in. Can manually downshift, so it"s not a serious handicap. Threw a code once that said a-b shift solenoid. Replaced it per shop manual (yes, I got the right one), along with about 6 quarts of expensive Dextron. Still acting up. No codes, etc. Although lately it has"t bothered much.

"Run in the house and get me a...."as I open th
