As an old machinery buff, you'd have enjoyed a conversation I had with a retired implement dealer (and longtime friend) and his grandson, when I ran into them in the local department store. We stayed out of the way, because we knew you might be shopping there, but we went on at great length about their latest project, restoring old manure spreaders. They're a pretty hot item among the part timers in our area, and bring good money. We discussed the pros and cons of plywood vs. planks for replacing wood, which drive gears would interchange, etc. When we finally parted ways, he shook my hand and said "That was fun. Its difficult to find someone in Sunbirds Dept. Store who can carry on a meaningful conversation about manure spreaders."
