It shows a lot of different grits for different uses. On the ring gap, .003 to .004 per inch of cylinder diameter is pretty much the standard. I have a lisle ridged hone and ball hones. Each have their place. Fact is, lot of sleeve manufacturers use the ball hone for the final "plateau" finish on their sleeves.
