The new driving rules have a lot of stupid stuff in them. A lot of it is designed to make the LARGE companies have an advantage over the small fleets and owner operators.
The ten hours with 8 in the bunk to get a fresh 11 is crazy. I have rarely ever slept 8 hours straight. We had drivers that would be in line all day and napped/slept all day but ran out of duty time while waiting in line so they could not deliver the load after they got loaded.
Really glad we sold all the custom hauling trucks. We kept the two older semis and hoppers for our own use and that is it.
The constant DOT hassle is just not worth it for the small profit you make.
