I just had a fillup for my house 500 gal tank (which has no nurse line). I contacted 3 propane suppliers and all required an inspection of all gas connections, hoses, and appliances in the house.
Then I was required to drain the tank and have a safety "Overfill" device installed like is on the small 20# tanks with the triangular handle. I lost 80ish gallons of propane in the malay of trying to get it all done. However they only charged me $30 for all that labor including having 3 company trucks present with occupants so I kept my bitchin to myself. I got the gas for $1.95/gal which is about $1 a gallon less than it used to be a couple of years ago. Usually it is real close to the price of gasoline, minus road tax, but not any more thanks to our abundant supply of Nat. Gas.
Not that long ago was the flap about having to have the overfill saftey valve on all portable tanks thru 40#. Made a bunch of older tanks obsolete as the cost of the valve and installation was real close to the cost of a new tank. I lost about 4 including a 40 pounder.
With all that said, it is of no surprise to me that they went picking on the nurse tank. No telling what restriction we are going to have to deal with in the future.
