My pet peeve is mounting 8" tires. Swore I wouldn't do it again.
Local full service tire store (lawn mowers to 18 wheelers to 300
hp tractors) dismounts and mounts for $6 or free if you buy the
tire from them. For that, no way.
I would gladly pay $6.00 for tire work but I live a long way from a place to get it done.
I remember having a tremendous amount of problems mounting the front and rear tires on a riding lawnmower and realizing this, I bought a couple of rear tires from a tire dealer.
He stated that he would mount them free and that I couldn't mount them by myself?
He dismounted the old tires and I took the rims home to clean them up.
Next day he called so I took the freshly painted rims and watched him and two others mount the new tires.
This was done at a large and busy shop.
This was before I discovered pre-spreading the tire bead but I dought that any tire dealership would want to waite the time required for the tire too "set".
