its not in the ball book,but I found it in the Kerr book,it says,,,,cut into desired sized pieces and boil for 5 mins,pack into Kerr jars to within 1/2inch of top of jar,Add 1/2 teaspoon salt to each pint.Fill to within 1/2 of top of jar with the precooking liquid or BOILING water. Put on cap.screw band firmly tight. Process pints 45 minutes quarts 55 mins 10 pounds pressure This is from the Kerr home canning and freezing book
