: : There is a JD 3010 coming up for sale with 1400 original hours on it. I cannot view this tractor ahead of time, and any information, warnings or cautions anyone can provide about this particular model would be appreciated. I do not know the year it is, but would anyone hazard a guess as to what it would/should bring at auction? Thanks in advance. : I recently purchased a JD 4010 Diesel with a loader for $8500. The 4010 and 3010 series were made from 1961 (serial numbers 1000+), 1962 (19801+), and 1963 (32400+). In 1964 this model was changed to the 3020. I would be surprised if the tractor had only 1400 hours, since it is at least 35 years old, but if it really has been used that little, it would be worth more. I think you would expect to find this tractor for roughly $7500 from a dealer and might get it for ~$5,000 at an auction. The engine is a four cylinder with 254 cu in. The transmission is a synchro-range, but not a power shift (they came as an option on the 3020). The engine has 55.2 hp at the PTO. The 3010 and 4010 can be a little hard to start since they do not have glow plugs and they were timed to deliver the fuel BTC (10 deg for the 3010). My tractor will always start if plugged in, or if I use ether. Overall this should be a an excellent tractor if it is good condition. Dave, FYI the tractor went for $6750. Tires were not that great and I was told by someone more knowledgeable than I that the clutch was adjusted as far as possible and it would probably need a new clutch with any heavy work?
