The interesting thing to me is that the control of DC is now done almost entirely by Solid state electronic power inverters that work in cascaded isolated arrays to allow radical voltage to be manipulated and divided as needed for end use. The Biggest limitation on the HVDC is the cost of these systems for getting it to Transmission voltage, and then inverting it back down to secondary distribution levels. It seems that the DC line is not friendly to the idea of multiple taps/branching from the HVDC, and is almost always point to point over the entire distance. Jim
