Welcome to the facts of life on a JD new generation gas tractor with todays gas. I have run into some that none of us could make run "right"
Here are some things to try. I give ZERO guarantees that anything you do will make it run right.
1) Do a wet and dry compression check. See if you have low compression because of burnt valves.
2) If the compression check is alright then adjust the valves. I have seen them too tight. Then when the motor warms up the valves will not close.
3) You say you replaced the carburetor. Which one did you have and which one do you have now.
4) Check the distributor out. Even with the electronic kits the shaft bushing can be worn out and then the timing is effected.
5) Check the ignition timing. Start form scratch.
6) Adjust the governor linkage. If it is out of adjustment then it will effect everything else.
You may not get it to run right. They are real temperamental on the new formulas of gas. Running premium may help. I think it is the new blends that are the issue. The burn rate is different than the older fuels had. Had one old fellow that swore that he blended some diesel with his gas to make the burn rate slower and it helped his tractor out. I tried it and just fouled the plugs faster than they already where.
I had a gas JD 4010 on my feeder wagon for 10-15 years. When the new oxygenated fuels came out I just could not keep it running correctly. I even completely overhauled it. With good compression, several different carburetors, and electronic ignition. It still would not run right or keep from fouling plugs.
I finally solved the problem. I sold the tractor and switched to diesel.
